Welding jobs are rarely the same from day to day. Materials, seam types and processes change constantly and welders need equipment that can keep up. The Fronius Fortis series, now available at SMENCO, is designed for exactly these conditions. With up to 240 optimised welding characteristics Fortis ensures stable performance across steel, aluminium and stainless steel, even on demanding applications.
Multiprocess Flexibility
One of the strengths of Fortis is its multiprocess capability. Depending on the model, it supports:
- MIG/MAG welding with short or long seams, root passes, fillet welds and vertical-up applications.
- TIG DC welding with functions such as pulse welding, touchdown ignition and TAC tacking.
- MMA welding with features including HotStart, Anti-stick, arc-force dynamic and CEL compatibility.
This multiprocess functionality makes Fortis a true all-rounder, reducing the need for multiple machines.
Advanced Welding Functions
Fortis integrates specialised functions to improve weld quality and efficiency:
- Pulse welding reduces spatter and rework across thin and thick sheets.
- SynchroPulse delivers controlled seam rippling, particularly suited for aluminium alloys and out-of-position welding.
- Stitch welding lowers heat input through adjustable intervals, helping to prevent distortion in thin sheets.
- TAC tacking simplifies component alignment and speeds up tacking.
These functions give welders greater control, especially in applications where consistency and precision are critical.
User-Friendly Design
While technically advanced, Fortis is also built to be accessible. Its 7” colour display with a welding parameter wizard simplifies setup and reduces errors, making even complex tasks manageable. Other usability highlights include:
- Intuitive menu navigation and memory functions
- Keylock to prevent unauthorised changes
- Clear display of all key parameters in real time
In addition, ergonomic housing with integrated handles and optional Compact or Split configurations make Fortis easy to use in a range of workshop environments.
Built to Last, Designed to Sustain
Durability and sustainability are central to the Fortis series. The housing contains 53% recycled aluminium, combining robustness with a lower ecological footprint. Protective features such as recessed rotary knobs, angled displays with protective glass and replaceable components ensure long service life, even under tough conditions.
